2019/20 Season Wrap-up
Back in late March 2020 the country went into a national lockdown. For some unknown reason,
skittles was not exempt and, mainly due to social distancing measures and personal worries over
dirty balls, the season was never finished.
The committee has unanimously agreed that the tables and averages at time of lockdown should
stand as the final results. This was ratified at the captains’ meeting held on Wednesday 22nd
September. This means that:
Gutter Nutters are Division 1 champions with Royal Albrites finishing as runners up.
In Division 2 there was an issue that Alsorts still had a couple of games in hand on the leaders but,
with a points deficit of 18 and a lower average, it was decided to award the title to Freewheelers.
Alsorts, therefore, finish in 2nd place.
Individually, Dave Quinn topped the Division 1 averages ahead of Rob Wadsworth and Mark Grainger
just beat Matt Burnett to win the 2nd Division averages.
The 2021/22 season gets under way on Monday 1st November. There will be just one division, a
decision that was unanimously agreed by the 12 team captains at their meeting on 22nd September.
We are always looking to recruit new players so if you know of anyone who would be interested,
bring them along and introduce them to this great game!

Week 13 Highlights
A pretty low-scoring affair across the piece this week, with 34 the best individual effort and most pin totals in the
140s & 150s. There was a Valentine's Day massacre on Monday, with Alsorts rolling over Gutter Nutters 10-0.
This takes Alsorts to within 9 points of top spot as things tighten at the top of the league. In the battle of bottom
vs top, The Queen's Flight were close to springing a shock against Lads' Night Out. The Flight won the first two
legs and it went down to the last ball of the game before Lads' sneaked it 6-4. Last Six were closing in on a
whitewash in their match against Late Knights until Tony Reeves hit a 9 in the 5th and the leg was drawn - this
takes Six to equal points with the leaders, but just behind on pin average. The only spare of the week was struck
in this game - Brian Turner hit 13, but only managed 29 overall. The Knights were clearly abstaining from the
booze - they hit just 10 in the beer leg. Nikkers are also keeping an interest in the title - they sneaked past Best
Sellers 7-3, beating the Sellers pin total by just one. This keeps Nikkers in 3rd, just 7 points off the top.
Remnants beat Maclean Smilers by the same score on Tuesday night, and Newcomers won a close contest on
Thursday 6-4 against Big 'Uns.
